Carpet Cleaning Tips From Professionals

Keeping the carpet spic and span is a never-ending task. It becomes even more difficult as years go by when the carpet becomes grimy due to spill, stain and even by neglect. In our busy schedule, cleaning the carpet on a daily basis is also not feasible.

Here are a few pieces of advice from professionals which, when followed in the correct sense, helps not only in keeping the carpet neat and clean but also in extending its life.

The frequency of cleaning: To maintain the carpet in good condition, it should be vacuumed twice a week in high traffic areas and once a week in other areas. Vacuuming on a regular basis prevents soil built up in the carpet.

Vacuum your carpet on a weekly basis.

Set the vacuum cleaner at the correct height: The height of the vacuum cleaner is very important while cleaning the carpet. If the height of the vacuum is set to low, then you end up damaging the vacuum’s roller brush. If it is set too high, then the vacuum does not suck all the dust particles. The right height is when you can feel the vacuum tug itself as you start the cleaning.

Empty the vacuum bag before cleaning: Make sure that the vacuum bag is emptied and cleaned before every vacuuming. This way the vacuum cleaner is able to suck out all the dust and work at the maximum capacity.

Do not rub stain: It is a common habit of many to rub the stain off a carpet. This not only spread the stains to a larger area but also damages the carpet fiber. You should always blot the stain with a tissue paper before cleaning the area. Blotting helps to suck out the moisture and prevents the stain from spreading.

Don’t rub the stains, it will only damage your carpet.

Do not wet the carpet completely: While wet cleaning the carpet make sure that it is moist only on the surface. If it is completely wet, then drying the carpet especially during cold winter months can be difficult.

Cleaning tough stain: If the stain cannot be removed through the blotting process, then use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean the stain. Spray the solution on the stain and let it sit for some time. Clean the area with a damp cloth. If you are cleaning with a commercially available cleaning agent, remember to spot test the same in a small area before applying it all over the carpet.

If the carpet is too dirty or if it is difficult to remove tough stain and grease, then it is best to seek professional help for carpet cleaning. Professional carpet cleaners have the right cleaning products and equipment to remove even the toughest stain from the carpet. They ensure that your carpet is perfectly cleaned without damaging the fiber.
